Hamburg, 28.04.2021: Our managing director Jürgen Matthes brought the idea with him from his travels in Asia and our trainer Volker Eggerts thought it was so good that he immediately started implementing it: A creative space for the trainees. Here the trainees should have the opportunity to exchange ideas, to chill out during the break, to write reports in peace or to prepare for exams. And that in a pleasant atmosphere, in an environment that you can design yourself according to your ideas and needs.
Our youth and trainee representative Keno Gawe supports him in this. Keno is in the 1st year of his apprenticeship as a mechatronics technician for refrigeration technology and was elected to the JAV on January 27th, 2021. Since then, he has been taking care of the apprentices' concerns and is the interface between them, the works council, the management and the HR department. He also coordinates the creative space design and collects the ideas. One thing is certain, for example, that a cozy corner sofa, a projector with a screen, a dart board, a bookshelf with specialist literature and a floor lamp are needed. A budget for this has already been approved by the management.
Since the trainees who are completing mechanical training usually do not have their own workstation, a permanent computer workstation should also be set up here. Apprentices from the 2nd year of training can work with their company laptop. By the way: We give all trainees a company smartphone with which they can log into the intranet and check their e-mails.
We are curious to see how the room will develop, what ideas our trainees have and hope that we will soon be able to post great before-and-after pictures.
