Contract signing: Hein van Ameijden (CEO Damen Naval) and Thomas Arlit (Managing Director ENGIE Axima Germany)

Hamburg, 23.07.2021: We look forward to working with Damen Naval! The contract for the design and delivery of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system as well as the CBRN protection and the cooling systems for the frigates of the F126 class for the German Navy has been concluded and work on the project begins.

Damen Naval entrusted us with the project management, design, production and delivery of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology for the four class F126 frigates.

Hein van Ameijden, Managing Director of Damen Naval, said on the occasion of the signing of the contract: “We are delighted that we can again place an important order with a German subcontractor. The order is of great importance insofar as the provision of heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology will be decisive for the safety and well-being of the soldiers on board the F126 frigate. Here in particular, we rely on quality from Germany. "

This order will secure jobs for up to 80 employees of ENGIE Axima in the office and production at the Hamburg location as well as on the shipyard construction sites for many years. The planning and construction work began in July 2021, and in 2024 the first frigate will be equipped with the NOSKE-KAESER® systems.

Thomas Arlit, Managing Director of ENGIE Axima Germany adds: “We are very proud of the positive decision by Damen Naval, enabling us to contribute to this program with our NOSKE-KAESER® systems. As a long-term service partner for the ships of the German Navy with regard to HVAC-R / CBRN / fire protection, we will continue to support the soldiers on board in the proven manner even after the ships will have been delivered. "

Together with its partners Blohm + Voss and Thales, Damen is building a total of four ships of the class F126 frigates on behalf of the German Navy, after the partners were able to prevail with their offer in a multi-year European tender in 2020. The first ship is to be handed over to the German Navy in Hamburg in 2028. The ships will be built in Hamburg, Kiel and Wolgast and thus entirely in Germany.
